This Uniprise enterprise infrastructure course instructs and qualifies participants in the proper methodologies and best practices required for planning, installing, terminating and testing copper indoor horizontal cabling, fiber building backbone and outside plant media in the campus. It certifies CommScope Partners to warrant the solution.

Anyone involved in using the Uniprise solution in Enterprise infrastructure projects and wishing to understand the installation requirements in detail. Those wishing to become a Uniprise Certified Installer as part of the CommScope Partner program.
No pre-requisite knowledge is required for this course. It is useful if you have an understanding or exposure to the Enterprise infrastructure market.
- Introduce industry codes, standards, regulations and methodologies
- Learn the Uniprise solution, its products and the best practices required to install and test it to a standard that can support the Uniprise warranty.
- Apply the principles of installation to projects using products manufactured or endorsed by CommScope as part of the Uniprise solution.
- Receive Uniprise Certified Installer status appropriate for partners contracted to install this CommScope solution.
The Uniprise suite of courses are built from a pool of modules as opposed to lessons, the modules included within this course include:
- Uniprise Introduction - This module introduces CommScope and the Uniprise structured cabling solutions, manufacturing excellence, warranty.
- Safety - contains the basic safety regulations and practices applicable to the telecommunications installer/technician, OSHA, MSDS, safety issues, first aid, tools and safety, ladders and safety, lifting, personal protective equipment, lighting, laser and fiber safety.
- Codes and Standards – Standards and regulations, purpose, standards organizations, TIA, ISO/IEC, CENELEC, Application standards such as IEEE, NFPA, NESC and NEC standards, TIA 568, TIA569, TIA606, TIA607, TIA758, TIA862, standards creation.
- Transmission Media - is a review of the transmission parameters, which are affected by the placement of the copper and optical fiber media, cable components, U/UTP, F/UTP, S/FTP, coax, performance, pairs, decibel (dB), transmission characteristics, CommScope testing program, Verified vs Tested, FO transmission media, dispersion, attenuation, fiber types, OM2, OM3, OM4, OS2, network cable performance, fiber selection, fiber construction, cables and fire safety listings.
- Copper Cable and Connectivity - covers Ultra II and DataPipe CAT5e, Media 6 CAT6, Ultra 10 solutions, isolator, isolite, UNJ and UNP connectors and panels, FTP solutions, CAT3 solutions, cables and components.
- Fiber Cables and Connectivity - details the Uniprise fiber solutions, including LightScope ZWP fiber, LaserCore and other multimode & jacket options, DMD, OM2+, OM3 and OM4, Application distances, fiber selection, cable types loose tube, tight buffered, protective casings, triathlon, hybrid, CIS Cable in Conduit, Webtrak. Part 2 covers connectors, ST, SC, LC, pre-terminated, patch panel options, OSP and Building Entrance enclosures.
- Coaxial cable and Connectivity - details coaxial structure, shield types applications and connectors, standards, impedance, attenuation, shields, design, Video, CATV, security, wireless control,
- Mixed Use Network Solutions - Explores solutions used in small commercial and residential environments, MXU distribution Centers, the MDU and module options and enclosures.
- Installation Planning - Initial planning, Site survey and installation planning.
- Horizontal Cable Installation - Before installation, telecoms room layouts, support infrastructure, planning and installation, conveyance, and installation tools, J hooks, support problems, sag, ladder racks, tray, cable reeling systems, chute and waterfall, bull wheel, pulling techniques.

- Firestopping - products and properties, UL fire resistance, selection, fill calculations, independent testing, System ratings F, L, T, penetrated barriers, engineering judgements, firestop systems, mechanical, putties, caulk, collars, cementitious materials, intumescent sheets and strips silicone foams, pillows, sprays, blankets, sleeves, methodology and installation.
- Earthing or Grounding and Bonding covers - Grounding and bonding requirements for the telecommunications cabling system, lightening exposure, protection, grounding electrodes, power protection, grounding bonding conductors indoors and out, GE, TBB, TMGB, TGB, cable shields, circuit protectors, primary and secondary protectors.
- Connectorization and Splicing - covers methods and procedures for the termination of the copper and fiber media. Splicing contains an overview of copper splicing and methods and procedures for the mechanical and fusion splicing of optical fiber cabling. This module is supported by the termination Videos available in the student download area. IDC, color codes, labeling, fiber splicing, fusion splicing, mechanical splicing, fiber closures, heat cured termination, anaerobic termination, pigtails, coax termination.
- Administration - provides direction for the proper documentation required by both the ANSI/TIA/EIA Standard and the CommScope Installation Program. ANSI606, selection of class 1through 4, classes and identifiers, required records, implementation, room designation, station termination locators, wiring system administration, bonding labeling, EIA/TIA standards.
- Testing and Troubleshooting - covers testing and troubleshooting of copper and fiber cable including OLTS and OTDR. Visual verification, documentation, test sets, VOM, induction amplifiers, tome generators, wire maps, TDR, testing UTP and F/UTP, link and channel copper testing, length, insertion loss, NEXT, ACR, ELFEXT, PSELFEXT, Return loss, delay and skew, test procedures, failures, troubleshooting, backbone testing coax testing. Fiber testing Tier 1 and Tier 2, continuity and infrared testing, VFL, strand identification, OLTS, OTDR, multimode and singlemode testing, source and meters, TIA/EIA526, loss calculations, testing precautions, OLTS referencing process and procedures, test leads. OTDR testing, troubleshooting, isolate, cable loss, microbends, OTDR testing practices, repair.
