RET Antenna Systems [SP6140]

This course looks at the way consumers are changing their usage of wireless networks and the impact this is making on available bandwidth. One of the areas covered is looking at ways to achieve this demand by better utilization of sites and antennas, in particular RET (Remote Electrical Tilt) and ANMS software.

This course is suitable for installers, design engineers, project managers, field engineers and anyone who works directly or indirectly with a wide area wireless communications system.

Pre-requisite experience:

There is no pre-requisite experience required for this course. SP6000 RF Fundamentals will provide you with a sound understanding of RF theory if you do not have any exposure to these wide area communications networks and antenna. We also recommend that students consider taking the online SP6160 PIM/VSWR certification course in addition to this course.

We discuss fine tuning antennas to meet the demand we may have, to increase available sectors without increasing footprint. This course addresses those issues by investigating RET (Remote electrical tilt) and by being savvy with this technology, ensuring lower capital expenditure and operating costs but with a higher quality of service.

We will also look at the ANMS software that can help with the day to day organization and utilization of networks.

  • Teletilt Agile Systems: This lesson introduces the need for and concept of tilting antennas. The benefits of electrical tilting will be described showing graphically how they work in practice together with the choice of components and the standards involved.
