Constellation - Design Best Practices [SP4530] - CommScope Infrastructure Academy

Summary:

This course discusses how to design a CommScope Building Edge Infrastructure system.

It introduces the components and cables as well as how to use the CommScope Constellation Configurator software, to calculate the components to create a BOM (Bill of materials).

Audience:

This course has been specifically written to aid those who will be involved in designing and installing a Constellation Building Edge Architecture system. It discusses how to calculate the power required for the selected devices in each Constellation Point, and then selecting the correct cables and transmission equipment to achieve this.

Design is understanding how components fit together to achieve a working and effective solution, so this course will help with that, advising on the components required and explaining the CommScope design software that makes this task easier.

Pre-requisite experience:

No pre-requisite experience is required although understanding the basics of Constellation may be helpful. The SP4520 Constellation Positioning course covers this.

Objectives:

• Discuss where to start when designing, going through the components and helping to calculate power requirements for each Constellation Point
• Explain the power transmission equipment and how to calculate the number of power supplies and transmission cards
• Demonstrate how everything fits together with diagrams and advise on consumables that may be required
• Show how to plan the best areas for the physical installation of the Constellation Points with tips and suggestions on what to look for and avoid
• Make informative decisions on cable design and alternative construction methods to suit various environments
• Provide an example site installation and how to use the CommScope Constellation Configurator software to calculate the components to create a bill of materials (BoM)
