The focus of this course is to take a detailed look at Fiber optic technology within our market and the associated CommScope fiber solutions. The course covers safety, transmission theory, cable structure and design, connectors and pre-terminated solutions, splicing and testing.

Recommended for Design Specialists already skilled in Design and Engineering (SP3321) and wanting to understand fiber technology and solutions in more depth. SP4400 is the pre-requisite to the SP4410 CommScope OSP Fiber Design and Engineering to qualify as a Fiber Specialist.

The course goes well beyond that covered within the specific design courses and takes the student to a fiber 'specialist' level. The course covers Fiber Optic Safety followed by an in depth look at fiber Transmission Theory. It moves on to include Fiber 'Types' and DMD, Cable construction and Installation practices. Connectors, termination solutions and Pre-terminated Fiber Solutions are all covered in detail. Finally Splicing and Testing practices including OLTS and OTDR are detailed.
