The primary audience is for Business Partners, Consultants and Customers about to embark on or already involved in Data Center design projects. It covers Data Center fundamentals and planning considerations, Data Center standards and SYSTIMAX copper, fiber and pre-terminated fiber design and installation. It builds upon the basic design skills learnt in the SP3321 course. Therefore the ideal pre-requisite for this course is qualification in SP3321 Design and Engineering. The combination of SP3321, SP8800 and SP8810 will certify the student as a 'Data Center Specialist' which will be recognized on the BMS locator. | This course starts by looking at Data Center fundamentals including the market, challenges and motivations driving the explosive growth in Data Center projects. It moves to Data Center components and technologies such as Mainframes, NAS and SAN, switches, servers and connectivity including ESCON, FICON, FC, LC, MPO, OoBM and KVM. Planning will give an appreciation of power and CRAC considerations as well as the practical cabling challenges faced. Capacity and scalability planning introduces POD’s and RLU’s. Data Center design is detailed and starts by linking TIA, ISO and EN standards to components within the DC environment, then moves on to cover specific, copper, fiber and pre-terminated fiber solutions used within the Data Center.
The course carries a total of 5 BICSI Continued Education Credits.
